Virginia Safari Park

While my family was visiting, we went to the Virginia Safari Park near Natural Bridge.  You drive your car through and the animals basically stalk you through the park.  They are well trained in knowing where to get food.
This ostrich was very hungry and would take anything we would give him!
You aren't allowed to roll your windows up while they are feeding.  They have to be completely out of your car, which can be hard to do!
Mr. Pot Bellied Pig was wandering across the road to get a mud bath.

The camels (and others) will take the feed bucket right out of your hand if you're not careful!
Dad petting the camel.  Watch out!  They spit!
Throughout the park they had these grates on the ground so the animals couldn't get across them and mingle with the other animals.  These elk decided they were going to monitor everyone who came into their section.
 "What is your business here?"
"You may not pass until we are given the proper amount of food for passage."
"Or we will headbutt your car!"
 Always looking for a meal
Mama was not sure quite what to make of all these animals. :)

This one had it's antlers cut off.

 Zebra kisses
 Jamie enjoying the zebras.
 Mom and baby
This one did not stray too far from his mom.
 So cute!

She warmed up to them after a little while but I think she was still a little apprehensive.
 Hello!

 Yaks

There was one in particular who was very feisty and tried to get the other ones riled up.

These llamas would stick their head in my car and drool all over my pants.  Gross!  I had to go home and get a shower!

They have a little walk through zoo there as well.  Apparently it was baby time because these little piglets were not that old.
This camel isn't very big either.
Looks like Dad made a friend.

 Yes, a little disgusting.
But the babies are cute as a button!
 Mama and Jamie
 Dad and me
While we were there, it started to rain.  The kangaroos didn't want to come out of their shelter.
 Jamie with a parakeet.
 Pretty bird!
Mama and Dad feed the birdies together.

 Jamie likes to eat birds.

She made this face a lot.

Dad was trying to get the white parakeet to come to him.  It didn't work out so well.

Yes, we're related!

Mama had too much fun in the gift shop! :)

If you've never had a chance to go, and you're from this area, you should check it out!  If you don't want to take your car through, you can ride the wagon for a couple bucks apiece.  We wanted to take our time though and thought it was a great experience! :)
