Science Museum

A couple weekends ago we went to Richmond. We were planning to go to King's Dominion. However, as it turns out, it didn't open until 7 PM. So...we had to find an alternate plan. We ended up going to the Virginia Science Museum for the day. We saw lots of neat things, including rats playing basketball. Swinging around the spinny thing. I got quite dizzy when I got off.

They train the rats by putting them in a miniature basketball court with a ball. When they touch the ball, the trainers ring the bell and they get a treat. After they've mastered touching the ball, they have to learn to pick up the ball. Well, the rats touch the ball and expect a treat. When they don't get one, they have to figure out what else they need to do. After months of training, they finally figure out they must pick up the ball. Immediately after they pick up the ball, the trainers ring the bell and they come get a treat. Of course this process continues with lifting the ball onto a platform and eventually through the hoop. They do end up taking the platform away. It was really a neat thing to watch. Hope you enjoy!Tyler in front of the sand sculpture. What Tyler would look like with bat ears :)What I would look like with bat ears :) Outside the museum with the ball that spins on water.
