Burlington, Iowa

By the time we got to Burlington, it was about 3 PM.  We stopped at the visitor's center by the Mississippi River.
This is the side of the visitor's center.  You are looking at a stage connected to the building.  Tyler saw Chubby Checker perform here when he was about 7.  Chubby Checker invited him up on stage, but my sweet Tyler was and is too shy to do something like that.  I would have been up there in a heartbeat. ;)
This is the parking lot and boat dock where the Copening's used to put their boat in the water.
Tyler lived in this house from ages 6-10.
He has fond memories of playing in the gulley behind this house.
This was the elementary school he went to while he lived in Burlington.  He has a lot of funny and not so funny memories from this school.

Brian went to middle school in Burlington and middle school let out earlier than elementary.  So, Brian would get out of school first and start walking toward the elementary school to meet up with Tyler. During winter one time, some kid threw a snowball at Tyler as he was beginning his walk home. Well, Brian happened to witness this, ran over, and started beating the kid up.

One time Tyler ran into the side of school and gave himself a concussion because he was trying to catch the ball.  (Yep, that's my sweetie!)  He was one determined little boy!  He still is today!
It's pronounced Krā-po Park.  Not Crap-o.
A view of the Mississippi River from the park
Tyler shooting the cannon.  Apparently, they used to love to do that as kids too.
He can be very animated. :)

The train trestle across the Mississippi
Snake Alley, the crookedest road in the world.  We both drove on it! :)
